Lake Rain

(its) Been a long time since I've been here when it rained
Speckled dark and light bands meandering like veins
hear the pat, pat on the leaves and the bird in the tree
No other sound around save me

I remember, as a kid, playing by the shore
searchin for a flat rock to so I could make it soar
(and) I'd fling that flat rock, angled just right
and it skipped 'cross the water in its flight

Not far up the road, the blueberries can be found
cloggin up the bush and fallen on the ground
we'd pick some and we'd eat some until we all were full
then take some back for mom and dad at home

no we didn't have no TV in that cottage by the lake
but the days were way too short for the fun we would make
we'd walk and run and fish and pick until the sun went down
then we'd sit for our supper and say our prayers out loud

Yes, its been a long, long time since I've been here when it rained...
