Her song Rag Doll was cut and released as a single by the independent band Good Souls. She had three songs in the top ten of NIM radio, Blue Back in The Sky slotted at number 3 and Rio Grande at number 2 and Rag Doll at number one and now all three will be entered into the hall of fame for NIM.

Rebecca can be seen in and around the south east areas playing in writer circles. She recently received honorable mention on VH1s song contest for songs co-written with Chrissy Colangelo and received honorable mention in the Billboard song contest, where the judge quoted, this could be on country radio today. Stereo Times: Her song Rag Doll was cut and released as a single by the independent band Good Souls. CD Reviews: www.rootstime.be Rootstime Seven songs and one bonus track on one EP; Rebecca... Seven songs and one bonus track on one EP; Rebecca Hosking doesn’t need more to convince us thoroughly that she is more than just another promising singer-songwriter. Hosking probably thought that it was better to make one very good EP than a half-good full-cd, and she was right, because this record doesn’t bore you for one second. The singer lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee, and seems to have picked up mostly the good things in this town (which is a feat in and of itself). Her music can probably best be described as country/Americana with a nice upbeat, that sucks you into irresistible sing-a-long refrains. With regards to the theme, the title of the EP covers it, even though the sometimes painful (love) experiences are covered up with summer sweet melodies, without ever being corny. It is pure enjoyment, for all 24 minutes. The would-be radio hit “Roll Over” blows in like a cooling wind on a much too hot summers day. Guitar, banjo and the lovely vocals of Rebecca, with backings from one of her musicians, are enough to make the country like title song and “Last Chance Café” modest, but oh so very beautiful listening pearls. And we haven’t even discussed the compelling beauty of “Robert would say” (about the American poet Robert Frost) of which we cannot get enough, or the brilliant acoustic guitar and dobroduel “Love is blind”. On the very beautiful bonus track “Lost is Found” Rebecca Hosking nearly reaches the level of one of her major examples: Emmylou Harris. Summarized: “Love and other disasters” is a wonderful, heartwarming record by an artist of which we will hopefully hear a lot in the near future. Shake

Cadillac Sky

Cadillac Sky should be a lot more tired. It’s early Saturday afternoon at MerleFest and the band–Bryan Simpson, Matt Menefree, Andrew Moritz, Ross Holmes and newest addition David Mayfield–has already logged two performances on the day....

Sessions: David Bazan

It was pretty slow. I mean, I played [the songs] on acoustic guitar for a long time, but I didn’t know how to transfer them to the other format. I didn’t want it to be a solo acoustic record. I wanted there to be bells and whistles and full band arrangements even if I didn’t want it necessarily to be electric guitar rock....

Sessions: Vetiver

“It’s always slightly confounding to me whenever Vetiver is depicted with the same tropes that people have read off of press sheets,” says Andy Cabic. “The same sort of milestones get mentioned but then no one really digs to find out that there are those other things going on.”

Behind The Song: “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing”

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell sang, it has been remarked, like lovers, although they weren’t. Similarly, Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, the team behind one of Marvin and Tammi’s most enduring hits, “Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing,” wrote as if under the influence of amatory forces; even if, in the spring of 1968,
