BIOGRAPHY
I moved to Nashville 5 years ago to go to school and pursue music. Since then, I've been writing and playing as often as possible and working on my new EP, set to release January 18th of 2011. I also work in artist management and publicity at O-Seven Artist Management, and do freelance graphic design. If you want the more "professional" (boring) bio, read below:

Holley Maher is an independent singer/songwriter based in Nashville, TN. She is currently recording her debut EP with Thomas Doeve of Paper Swan Studios in Nashville, and Matt Barnes, based in Brisbane, Australia. Holley's style is modern and relaxed, yet displaying a playful spirit that is all her own, with subtle influences from folk and jazz music.

"I'm incredibly excited to be working on this project, and so blessed to be working with Thomas," she says of her producer, who has worked with local Nashville artists like Amy Stroup, Andrew Belle and Trent Dabbs. "Honestly, I'm not sure anyone could 'get' my music better." The EP is due to be released January 18th of 2011.

Holley is an extremely well-rounded artist and credits her musical creativity to the time that she has spent studying other arts, like dance, theatre, and visual arts. "I feel like the massive amount of time that I spent dancing and doing theater growing up have definitely shaped who I am as a songwriter and musician," she says. "I'm more aware of movement in a song... I love building them with the other arts in mind." She is also a talented graphic designer and does all of her own design work, including album artwork, concert posters, and her myspace page. Q&A: Bright Eyes

After a brief stint as a solo artist, Conor Oberst has revived Bright Eyes to release The People’s Key, an album that deals with the nature of time, spirituality, and human existence. Also, it’s Rastafarian friendly.

Jessica Lea Mayfield: Look At Miss Ohio

“Things are starting to get weird.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield, whose Nonesuch Records debut Tell Me is in stores now, is on the phone from her home in Ohio and we’re having a good laugh over her recent success. It’s beer o’clock on both ends of the phone, the last interview in a long week of talking to complete strangers for the two of us.

Cadillac Sky

Cadillac Sky should be a lot more tired. It’s early Saturday afternoon at MerleFest and the band–Bryan Simpson, Matt Menefree, Andrew Moritz, Ross Holmes and newest addition David Mayfield–has already logged two performances on the day....

Sessions: David Bazan

It was pretty slow. I mean, I played [the songs] on acoustic guitar for a long time, but I didn’t know how to transfer them to the other format. I didn’t want it to be a solo acoustic record. I wanted there to be bells and whistles and full band arrangements even if I didn’t want it necessarily to be electric guitar rock....
