BIOGRAPHY
Greetings,

I'm a musician and songwriter interested in any opportunities that may come my way. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you know who may be interested. Thanks.

I grew up in rural north Arkansas and have been performing and writing songs since I was a teen. I was influenced by the folk and country music around my hometown (Mtn View, Ark), and by '60s pop music, especially Dylan and The Beatles. Got a BA degree in history in 1973, but have worked primarily as a musician. There was a 10-year period that I was editor of a regional magazine. Here's a brief rundown on what I do these days:

1. Andy Solo--guitar, harmonica, vocals with or without pre-recorded bass and drums, or I can add other musicians for a larger group. I play a variety of music, or I can focus on a particular style, including: tropical (Buffet, reggae), rock, folk, country, Irish, and/or '50s-current pop. I've worked at many Central Florida hotels, restaurants, nightclubs, and resorts over the past 20 years.

2. Mountain Brew--me with my wife Sara on mandolin and vocals (or as a trio or larger band). We specialize in Americana music--folk, bluegrass, country, Cajun--but we can also play an evening of mellow pop and rock standards, reggae, Irish/Celtic, 'Pirate' theme, and/or Christmas/holiday. It's fun music, lively and upbeat. We work at area nightclubs and at events statewide-- including 3 years seasonally at Cypress Gardens and 4 years of holiday shows at Silver Springs. We're performing at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach daily Jan. 23- Feb 1, 2009, and at Art Festivals in Maitland, Lake Mary, and Ocala. Please visit our website-- www.MountainBrew.net --to see a list of places we perform and hear music samples.

3. The Porchdogs--two to five members specializing since 1992 in Louisiana Cajun and zydeco, plus bluegrass, country, and standards. Many corporate and theme park engagements; booked every day the past 7 years during Bike Week and Biketoberfest at the Iron Horse Saloon in Ormond Beach; booked all 12 days 5 of the past 7 years at the Florida State Fair in Tampa. We're performing at the South Florida Fair in West Palm Beach daily Jan. 16-22, 2009. www.porchdogs.net

All of the shows are family-friendly, fun, and geared towards all ages. The musicians are professional, outgoing, and easy to work with. We can provide numerous references.

My websites, which include photos and sound samples, are listed above.

Thanks for reading this!
best wishes,

Sessions: David Bazan

It was pretty slow. I mean, I played [the songs] on acoustic guitar for a long time, but I didn’t know how to transfer them to the other format. I didn’t want it to be a solo acoustic record. I wanted there to be bells and whistles and full band arrangements even if I didn’t want it necessarily to be electric guitar rock....

Sessions: Vetiver

“It’s always slightly confounding to me whenever Vetiver is depicted with the same tropes that people have read off of press sheets,” says Andy Cabic. “The same sort of milestones get mentioned but then no one really digs to find out that there are those other things going on.”

Spoon: The Power of Transference

In 1995, Spoon were often dubbed “the next Pixies.” The tag never quite fit, but the two did share a love for writing glorious pop songs and then shrouding them with walls of noise and mystery. Over 15 years, the Austin, Texas band have survived lineup shuffles and early record label neglect, finding their signature style with 2001’s Girls Can Tell and quietly building one of the strongest rock catalogs of the decade.

On Track: Josh Turner

“It’s pretty secluded and private out here,” he says of the homestead he shares with wife, Jennifer, and their two boys, Hampton, three years old, and Colby, just seven months.
