The Annual Americana Music Festival & Conference will be celebrating is 10th anniversary. This year's event is expected to bring over 1000 executives, professionals and artists together from all over the world. The conference will be held in the Nashville Convention Center and premiere venues throughout the city on September 16-19, 2009.
The Americana Music Conference features numerous panels, seminars, a trade show, and much more. This special event covers the interests and needs of artists, managers, labels, radio stations, publishers, agents, promoters, retailers, performing rights, legal and business affairs, tour-related services, merchandisers, new media, and all related allied professionals.
The AMA Music Festival will feature up to 70 showcase or performance slots for both established and emerging artists, performing in both daytime slots and off-site evening showcases.
The 2008 Music Festival featured many established and developing acts, covering a broad range of styles, including: Peter Bradley Adams, Marcia Ball, The Band of Heathens, The Belleville Outfit, The Boxmasters, Joe Ely, Dailey & Vincent, Mike Farris, Jason Isbell, Buddy Miller, Jason & The Scorchers, Ben Kweller, Langhorne Slim & The War Eagles, Gary Louris & Mark Olson (from The Jayhawks), Raul Malo, O'Death, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Chip Taylor, The Waybacks and Paul Thorn.
Levon Helm and Alison Krauss & Robert Plant were among the winners at the Americana Music Association's 7th Annual Honors & Awards show at Nashville's Historic Ryman Auditorium. Appearing at the festivities to pick up two awards for their critically-acclaimed "Raising Sand" Krauss and Plant won Album of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year. The spirited three-hour program was hosted by two-time Americana Honors & Awards and Grammy recipient Jim Lauderdale. Award winner Buddy Miller also returned as the band leader. Nominees and special guests who performed included Ryan Bingham and Joe Ely, The Sam Bush Band, Kane Welch Kaplin, The SteelDrivers, Tift Merritt, Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer, Justin Townes Earle, James McMurtry, Miller and Robert Plant, and Steve Earle and Alison Moorer.
