--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rushing to the mailbox every day, like the wound up days of a long past youth.
Day after day, watching the clock at work, like a love struck teenager burnin’ to see my new sweet heart.
After two weeks of faithfulness to a sound I’ve only heard on someone else’s lips, a beauty only glimpsed on American Song Writer Magazine,
Whipping the jeep into the driveway, I bailed out to grab up the package at my back door.
Gently carrying her in like a new bride, with all the delicate fervor of a virgin undressing his new wife, I opened the box.
Prettier than any picture, solid as any virtue, there she laid, so bright and shining.
I pull her in close to my breast to warm her comb and keys, savoring her heftiness and fine craftsmanship.
She warms well and quick, and oh what a sound!
Blissful and warm, bright and deep, her tone tickles my ears as I hammer out some old forgotten “stoner” melody.
Thank You American Song Writer, you have inspired me deeply.
Yours in Honor and Respect,
Richard Pinkerton
