"Sundance Film Festival 2012, come on down to the Spur for a fun show!"
BIOGRAPHY
Courtney Leigh Heins, a Hoosier native and Boston College graduate, combines elements of folk, country, jazz, and bluegrass with compelling stories about life in the Heartland & Hollywood. Courtney has performed around the Los Angeles area at The Rainbow, Genghis Cohen, Pig'n Whistle & Molly Malone's, where she's opened for I See Hawks in LA as well as with the Lala Music SXSW 2010 showcase Live! @ The Belmont.
Courtney's 2nd album "Hot Coffee" featuring Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams, Ray LaMontagne) on guitar, was released in October of 2008. Her music has been featured on Nic Harcourt's Morning Becomes Eclectic, as well as in film, TV and commercials.
"The second album (Hot Coffee) from Courtney Leigh Heins is as stimulating as the beverage and chock-full of personal expression, love, joy, sadness, winning, losing and spiritual overtones. This is Americana folk meets country, merging with rock and jazz influences plus a touch of bluegrass - and it's a breathtaking blend. Certain voices sound familiar from the first second you hear them. There's a primal echo in their rich vocal timbre. There's a delivery that reaches deep inside your memory. That's exactly what you hear with Courtney." -- Folkwords (UK)
"She shows herself in the emotionally-moving "Lightly" with an effortless Stevie Nicks vibe ala Fleetwood Mac. Uptempo, lively country music dotted with mandolins and pedal-steel guitars are well-appreciated, but Courtney wins us most in her sensitive, tender ballads, such as the love tale "Saginaw." --Rootstime (Belgium)
"Home cooked groove.. aching, country bluesy feel to vocal attitude, great lyric references. Immensely promising."--TAXI (US)
"Courtney should be writing for every chick flick out there." -- Cat Cohen (US)
"Emerging as an observant working class songstress on the Ourstage radar..." -- Aidan Rush, Ourstage (US)

Robbie Robertson

As a member of The Band, Robbie Robertson changed the course or rock music history, hipping the genre to a more old-timey sound with songs like “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” His latest solo album, How To Become Clairvoyant, reflects on his rock and roll past.

Taylor Swift: The Garden In The Machine

“Country music is truly music for everyone,” said Tim McGraw, as he and his wife Faith Hill prepared to announce the Country Music Association’s 2009 “Entertainer of the Year” award. “And that’s never been more apparent than with the diversity of tonight’s nominees.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield: Look At Miss Ohio

“Things are starting to get weird.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield, whose Nonesuch Records debut Tell Me is in stores now, is on the phone from her home in Ohio and we’re having a good laugh over her recent success. It’s beer o’clock on both ends of the phone, the last interview in a long week of talking to complete strangers for the two of us.
