BIOGRAPHY
"(Billy’s) music became more personal, deeper and full of honesty. It developed a serrated edge that tore at the very essences of all that 'real' surrounding him, varied in every approach to his music … like a lost document from Gram Parsons, Neil Young or Willie Nelson."
Shawn Abnoxious, CityBeat

I do the laid-back Country-Folk Singer-Songwriter thing, and I try to have a lot of good times along the way. I've been at it for a real long time and you should hear the stories I can tell.

My latest release is "Half A Jug Full = NO DEAL," available on Cincinnati-based Tokyo Rose Records. In 2009, I was nominated for a Cincinnati Entertainment Award (CEA) in the Singer/ Songwriter category. In 2008, a band I was part of (and a songwriter for) was nominated for a CEA as Best New Artist. I've been a solo performer for years now, and I've also been part of the Lonesome Tumblers and The Chauncers.

Over the years, I've played with people like Hasil Adkins, Wil Cope, Tim Easton, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Neil Hamburger, Heartless Bastards, MC Chris, Chris Crofton, El Vez, Buffalo Killers, Our Lady Peace, Chuck Cleaver, Murder City Devils and a whole bunch more.

I'm always looking for new projects and collaborations, and especially new drinking pals.

"Musically energized … a solid, electrified collection of sometimes spare, sometimes rollicking tunes … big chords in front of a rhythm section vibrant and rocking enough to make the whole experience feel like classic AltCountry."
Alex Weber, CityBeat

"Reminds me of Gerald Collier (and) brittle bits of id, an insight into Catfish. The set as a whole is rather eclectic, (and) there are quite a few gems sparkling in the wash."
Aiding & Abetting

"This country crooning catfish is a catch! A cool-assed cowboy in command of his folk country tunes."

Q&A: Bright Eyes

After a brief stint as a solo artist, Conor Oberst has revived Bright Eyes to release The People’s Key, an album that deals with the nature of time, spirituality, and human existence. Also, it’s Rastafarian friendly.

Robbie Robertson

As a member of The Band, Robbie Robertson changed the course or rock music history, hipping the genre to a more old-timey sound with songs like “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” His latest solo album, How To Become Clairvoyant, reflects on his rock and roll past.

Taylor Swift: The Garden In The Machine

“Country music is truly music for everyone,” said Tim McGraw, as he and his wife Faith Hill prepared to announce the Country Music Association’s 2009 “Entertainer of the Year” award. “And that’s never been more apparent than with the diversity of tonight’s nominees.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield: Look At Miss Ohio

“Things are starting to get weird.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield, whose Nonesuch Records debut Tell Me is in stores now, is on the phone from her home in Ohio and we’re having a good laugh over her recent success. It’s beer o’clock on both ends of the phone, the last interview in a long week of talking to complete strangers for the two of us.
