""Soul of a Poet/Heart of a Picker""
From United Nations service to the release of his newest album “Silver Bluff Estates,” Jeep Rosenberg re-launches a musical and poetic career that includes appearances on “Austin City Limits,” the Studs Terkel Show, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, and picking guitar in several hundred no-name bars and honky-tonks. An Americana/alt country singer/songwriter raised in South Carolina and long based in New York City, he wrote most of the songs in the current project while serving as a UN peacekeeping official in Kosovo, Haiti, and Mozambique. Co-produced with fellow Jimmie Dale Gilmore workshop alum Robert Steven Williams and engineered by Jon Gordon (musical director/producer for Suzanne Vega & Madonna), the album is, according to Jeep, “…a harvesting of everything I’ve learned. They’re songs that have something to say; I think that even a fun song should say something.”
Jeep has been playing dates in New York Metro’s top roots listening rooms (Rockwood Music Hall, Pete’s Candy Store, Banjo Jim’s), in northern California, in Austin, Texas, and thanks to his musical friendship with Brandon Sampson of Six-Mile Grove, is building a fan base in Minnesota, with two tours so far and a concert at the Rochester Civic. It’s obvious that for all of his experience, Jeep Rosenberg’s musical story is now entering perhaps its biggest chapter of all; now freed to pursue his music full time, he is pursuing it with a zeal fitting of a man who has lived his whole life just to get back to his true love – words and music, and with the experience of an extraordinary life, he is eager to share it all with his audience. Find out why Kris Kristofferson said of Jeep, “One who got away!”
