BIOGRAPHY
Grew up and still am dirt poor! Live so far back in the woods, a GPS can't even get me home! (True Statement). Been writing songs since I was about 9. I can't read a single note of music, or play one instrument, but I'm a hell of a songwriter nonetheless. I believe that music in all forms is entertainment, and I have just as much right to entertain as anybody else. My favorite country song is, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". I love to hunt, fish, shoot & write songs. I don't have much to my name, but I thank the Lord for all the love I have in my life.

INFLUENCES
When I was younger, I loved Loretta Lynn's outspoken, tell-it-like-it-is style. As I grew older, I loved Hank Williams Jr.'s style for the same reason. I wrote my first real song for him. Lately, I worship Toby Kieth and can't understand why he isn't single and living next door to me! I also love Jake Owen's easy, laid back vocals and the raw energy of Jason Aldean. I enjoy all kinds of music from the classics to the most contemporary. Kid Rock rocks! Gretchen Wilson is a woman after my own heart. I write pissed-off girl songs with attitude as well as meaningful ballads. Recently developed a love for bluegrass music and think that my friend Tim Crouch is one of the best musician's on the planet.

Robbie Robertson

As a member of The Band, Robbie Robertson changed the course or rock music history, hipping the genre to a more old-timey sound with songs like “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” His latest solo album, How To Become Clairvoyant, reflects on his rock and roll past.

Taylor Swift: The Garden In The Machine

“Country music is truly music for everyone,” said Tim McGraw, as he and his wife Faith Hill prepared to announce the Country Music Association’s 2009 “Entertainer of the Year” award. “And that’s never been more apparent than with the diversity of tonight’s nominees.”

Alison Krauss: The Golden Girl

These days, many Nashville-based artists co-write their own material with big name songwriters so they can share a piece of the royalty pie in times of declining CD sales. But the truth is, a lot of those co-writes can’t match the work of people whose calling in life is to create high-quality songs above anything else.

Jessica Lea Mayfield: Look At Miss Ohio

“Things are starting to get weird.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield, whose Nonesuch Records debut Tell Me is in stores now, is on the phone from her home in Ohio and we’re having a good laugh over her recent success. It’s beer o’clock on both ends of the phone, the last interview in a long week of talking to complete strangers for the two of us.
