JESSE TERRY TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM THE RUNNER
Critically Acclaimed Songwriter Showcases Soulful, Timeless Songs As An Artist

Nashville, TN—The saying goes that you can throw a rock and hit a songwriter in the great city of Nashville, but it takes a special aim to find a songwriter as special as Jesse Terry. Since Terry has made Nashville his permanent home in 2004, he has logged a few years of co-writing and has paid his dues, and is now about to deliver his debut project as an artist, The Runner. Terry’s music has been described by fans and peers as “soulful” and “timeless,” in part because he is influenced by timeless artists himself, such as Jackson Browne, Neil Young, The Beatles, James Taylor, and The Band; as well as by prolific rocker Ryan Adams.

It was those roots that Terry tried to channel as he set the wheels in motion for The Runner -- to incorporate aspects of rock, folk, and country music. And if there is anything Terry has learned during his first few years in Nashville, it’s how to tell a story.

Terry also paid just as much attention to the recording of this project as he did the songwriting. Ethan Mentzer, bass player for the pop/rock group The Click Five, produced the album. Terry also brought in the likes of legendary slide player Dan Dugmore to play pedal steel, lap steel and dobro; and Grammy nominated mixer Jason Lehning (Emerson Hart, Guster, Josh Rouse) to lend some magic as well. In addition, Terry’s friends and former band mates from New England contributed to the instrumentation.

About Jesse Terry:
Jesse Terry was born and raised in Connecticut, to parents who were musicians, songwriters and singers. It was his parents that infused Jesse’s childhood with music and art, and exposed him to the likes of Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles. At a young age, Jesse showed talent as a visual artist and studied with two well-known painters, both of who encouraged him to enter art school. But when his mother gave Jesse her old guitar when he was 19, he decided to put art aside and concentrate solely on music. Both the guitar and songwriting came naturally to Jesse and he was eventually accepted to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he wound up earning several substantial scholarships and a bachelor’s degree in
songwriting/performance. He also fronted an original rock band in Boston and performed at countless venues throughout the Northeast. While a senior at Berklee, Jesse won both first and second prize in the prestigious CMT/NSAI song contest. The contest was his introduction to the Nashville scene, where he signed his first publishing deal with Masville Music in August of 2004, a brand new company founded by hit songwriter Mark Alan Springer. Jesse went on to write for the company for the next four and a half years and has lived in Nashville for almost five years.

Jesse has recently began to work with W Management out of NYC (Sheryl Crow, Steve Jordan, Schuyler Fisk).. His debut record "The Runner" has been licensed to ten major television shows including MTV's "The Hills" and "The City".

Legends: Bobby Braddock

In Nashville, most successful songwriters have a fairly short run. On hit, one year, two years, five years. Occasionally, we get one whose career approaches the length of a real career or, more often, one who has a few years success, then slips into oblivion, only to emerge again for another brief era of hit-making.

Legends: Rickie Lee Jones

She speaks softly, not unlike the way she sings --soft, soulful passages, almost like secrets to the closest of friends --punctuated by bursts of exaltation. It's much like the span of emotion in her work, and in her new record, Balm in Gilead, which veers from the pure, naked heartbreak of "Bonfires" to the elation of "Old Enough," to the beautiful "Wild Girl," which celebrates the 21st birthday of her daughter, while simultaneously reflecting on the unchained fervor of her own wild days.

Legends: Robert Earl Keen

As singer/songwriters go, Robert Earl Keen doesn't seem like the kind of artist who could honestly be accused of sloth. But despite a catalog choked with characters and conversations pulled from a colorful life, he makes that very claim on "Something That I Do," a track where he brags of his ability to not let work get in the way of an otherwise pleasant afternoon.

Townes Van Zandt: Facets, Faults & Fractures

It's 10 o'clock at night on an abandoned Music Row. The year is 1985. In a third-floor office in an old house that serves as the offices for the Oak Ridge Boys' Silverline/Goldline Music Publishing, Steve Earle brings the chair he's leaning back in down hard, flipping his hair out of his eyes for emphasis.
