The love for a song has always been there" ever since I was 5 years old. I first went to Nashville in 1977 after" I had released my first single record.I had just came of the road touring with' Riot out of Peoria Illinois. I was recording under the name Johnny Tree at that time. Ole' Magnolia and' Foxy was my first record. A record deal was offered becouse the songs did so well but' I coulden't except becouse of a nerve disorder from the Viet-Nam war.
I ended up in Printers Alley at the Crows Nest playin and' working at Lynbaughs as a waiter and' a dishwasher. Seems I,ve lived all over Nashville even' behind Shoney's at that telephone pole in a van next to the Hall of Fame Lounge. The journey has had its ups and' downs but' trying to be a songwriter don't" come eazy.
I got to play two parts in David Frizzell's video' (water Makes Her Cloths Stay On). I also co-write some with his brother Allen Frizzell and' Allen's wife Gayle and' I have written a song or two. I play the Wino and' Biker in the video. Also' featured is Charlie Wayne (Bulletboys) and' Kimberley Dahme (Boston)
I have three chart singles to my credit' recorded three albums and released three singles. The latest album was' "Jesse James" I have had 37 of my songs recorded. My first song recorded as a writer was "Love I Know" by' Kenny Parker. Tommy Dee and' I wrote "Honky Tonks & Swinging Doors. A hit for Steve Kramer. I have also' had Bluegrass and' Gospel songs recorded.
I,m from East Tennessee where I done a lot of Bluegrass' an x dis jocky (The cashman) father of the Appalachian Mountain Bluegrass Hoedown that was on the radio for seven years. I have met Ralph Stanley' Jimmy Martin' Blue Highway' The Osborne Brothers just to name a few. I have done some album release parties at the Ryman in Nashville for Rebel records and' met some great pickers and'' promoted a lot of Bluegrass. You might say I,ve spun about everone in the business on the radio.I have been playin Guitar for years (acoustic) and (electric). Now I,m living in North carolina where' I do most my writing. I spend a lot of time in Nashville also working with my Publishing co..Houston Valley Music Publishing.

Legends: Bobby Braddock

In Nashville, most successful songwriters have a fairly short run. On hit, one year, two years, five years. Occasionally, we get one whose career approaches the length of a real career or, more often, one who has a few years success, then slips into oblivion, only to emerge again for another brief era of hit-making.

Legends: Rickie Lee Jones

She speaks softly, not unlike the way she sings --soft, soulful passages, almost like secrets to the closest of friends --punctuated by bursts of exaltation. It's much like the span of emotion in her work, and in her new record, Balm in Gilead, which veers from the pure, naked heartbreak of "Bonfires" to the elation of "Old Enough," to the beautiful "Wild Girl," which celebrates the 21st birthday of her daughter, while simultaneously reflecting on the unchained fervor of her own wild days.

Legends: Robert Earl Keen

As singer/songwriters go, Robert Earl Keen doesn't seem like the kind of artist who could honestly be accused of sloth. But despite a catalog choked with characters and conversations pulled from a colorful life, he makes that very claim on "Something That I Do," a track where he brags of his ability to not let work get in the way of an otherwise pleasant afternoon.

Townes Van Zandt: Facets, Faults & Fractures

It's 10 o'clock at night on an abandoned Music Row. The year is 1985. In a third-floor office in an old house that serves as the offices for the Oak Ridge Boys' Silverline/Goldline Music Publishing, Steve Earle brings the chair he's leaning back in down hard, flipping his hair out of his eyes for emphasis.
