"If we weren't different, we'd never be the same."
BIOGRAPHY
I grew up in Kansas. I've been writing songs off and on since I took up a guitar shortly before going off to the Navy after high school. I play left handed, so I had to restring a friend's old guitar to get a start. That has been a lot of years ago. I write stronger than I play. Writing has always been the foundation for my playing and performing. I write novels now in addition to songs. I played with a local band for a while, but have come back to solo acoustic performances now in the little community where I live outside of Memphis. I tell people that I only play guitar to distract people from my singing. I guess I sing and play mainly to voice my songs. I write mostly what I would term Americana. Others may refer to it in more colorful terms.

Robbie Robertson

As a member of The Band, Robbie Robertson changed the course or rock music history, hipping the genre to a more old-timey sound with songs like “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” His latest solo album, How To Become Clairvoyant, reflects on his rock and roll past.
