My name is Jeremy Steding and music is my utter passion and consumption. I moved to Austin, TX in April of 2007. I had never been here before April 5, 2007, but I will call Texas home for the rest of my life. (I grew up in in the Florida, but loved Texas music since I was turned on to it, in college, at the University of Florida.) Everything I owned fit into my Ford Explorer Sport Trac (which still hauls my band and trailer to shows), including a handful of unmastered copies of my debut CD, "Whiskey Songs and Prison Songs".

I wandered around 6th street for about a year before I put a band together and released my first single, "Jack Daniels" to Radio. Since this time, I have been VERY blessed to make so many wonderful friends, within the music community and beyond.

It took me quite a while to start getting my bearings, but in January 2009, I first hit the Texas Music Chart with “Auburn”. This was the second single from my debut CD, and it was highly acclaimed because it was one of the very few songs to spend a great deal of time on the Texas Music Chart without the aid of a professional radio promoter. Soon after, I was invited to join up with the premier distributor of Texas/Red Dirt Music, "Smith Music".

I immediately began working on the new record, "A Damn Good Ride" (Smith Music, September 22, 2009.) I am very proud of the reception the album has had. The first two singles have reached the top 50 on the Texas Music Chart, and "Let the Boys Drink Whiskey" spent 18 weeks there.

“The Band of Bastards” accompany me during live performances. Over the last two years, I am very proud to have worked with some wonderful people and musicians. Currently, the live band consists of Chris Tondre, Eric Smith and Travis Woodard with guest appearances by Danny Hawk on Pedal Steel and Tina Turner (yes) on Fiddle. Their musical talent shines through on stage, and I consider them some of my best friends. We are having an absolute ball, and excited about the prospects in store!

A Damn Good Ride - Smith Music Review

- -
Some have suggested that Jeremy Steding’s sophomore album, “A Damn Good Ride”, is spawning a new genre in the Texas music scene. The songs will take you on an Alt-country drive in a Dodge Ram Spaceship with Johnny Cash riding shotgun. The album has a lot of fun exploring life's highs and lows with Jeremy’s unique passion and sense of humor. The title track “A Damn Good Ride” and “The Day to Day, Today” harness the strong musical influences of Johnny, Waylon and Merle as they peer into the daily life of the working man/musician with a distinctly retro feel.

“Let the Boys Drink Whiskey” is a song that will capture you in it’s raw look at what we hope to leave behind in a world we all try to make our own. “Auburn” dances with the Faith, inspiration and persistence necessary to achieve one's dreams. Overall, the album focuses on Jeremy's motto - “Work Hard, Play Hard, and Enjoy the Ride.” Like the title of track 8 suggests, this collection should have a “One Way Ticket” to your car stereo. Master musicians, who have worked with everybody from George Strait to George Jones, lay a rock-solid foundation for Steding's rugged baritone voice. Jeremy Steding’s song-writing is unique, the melodies are irresistible, and the production (thanks to producers Doug DeForest and Big John Mills) is amazing. It can be said with musical certainty that Jeremy Steding’s new album is simply – A Damn Good Ride.

Robbie Robertson

As a member of The Band, Robbie Robertson changed the course or rock music history, hipping the genre to a more old-timey sound with songs like “The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.” His latest solo album, How To Become Clairvoyant, reflects on his rock and roll past.

Taylor Swift: The Garden In The Machine

“Country music is truly music for everyone,” said Tim McGraw, as he and his wife Faith Hill prepared to announce the Country Music Association’s 2009 “Entertainer of the Year” award. “And that’s never been more apparent than with the diversity of tonight’s nominees.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield: Look At Miss Ohio

“Things are starting to get weird.”

Jessica Lea Mayfield, whose Nonesuch Records debut Tell Me is in stores now, is on the phone from her home in Ohio and we’re having a good laugh over her recent success. It’s beer o’clock on both ends of the phone, the last interview in a long week of talking to complete strangers for the two of us.

Cadillac Sky

Cadillac Sky should be a lot more tired. It’s early Saturday afternoon at MerleFest and the band–Bryan Simpson, Matt Menefree, Andrew Moritz, Ross Holmes and newest addition David Mayfield–has already logged two performances on the day....
