"She's got hair like a river flowing gold in the sun."
I began writing song poems at 10 and progressed to writing lyrics for Southern Ashe, who had a regional hit in 1978 with the Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute "Ronnie, Why'd You Fly Away." Along the way, I have placed in several lyric competitions, including a runner-up in the 2002 American Songwriter Lyric Competition for "My Heart's Not A Quitter."
I have a degree in General Studies from Columbus College (here in Georgia), with an emphasis in Creative Writing. Besides by lyric awards, I won the 2001 ScriptChallenge.com Short Screenplay Competition with "Aunt Lillian's Lip" and was a quarter-finalist in the 2009 Shamrock Entertainment Open Screenplay Contest with "The Bet".
All of the songs on my post are being sung by the cowriters who put their music to my words. David Dean, who I met on American Songspace, decided to cowrite online and came up with "Someone Else's Dream" together. Patrick Shade, another find on AmericanSongSpace and I wrote "Until You". And a big thanks to all of you of have accepted my invitation to network and cowrite together. If I don't succeed and make songwriting my career, it won't be because I'm not using AmericanSongSpace.
I love writing words in any shape, form, or format; and I love the collaborative creative process. I never am without paper and pen. I will co-write anywhere, anytime. Let's make music. It is, and always will be, about creating the best song possible.
